Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Eve Karpf reads Jacqueline Wilson's Double Act in this unabridged three-cassette audio book. Identical twins Ruby and Garnet are inseparable. They do everything together and go everywhere together. They love being twins, and since the death of their mother they have been closer than ever, safe in their little world. But when Dad finds a new girlfriend everything in the twins' lives is turned upside down--new home, new school, new everything. And gradually, being twins isn't quite the same anymore.

In Double Act, Wilson brilliantly captures the pain and uncertainty that change can bring. This story of two little girls gradually realising that they have no control over what is happening is both funny and poignant. Wilson shines as the twins begin to accept that things will never be quite the same, allowing her characters to grow and develop as individuals without ever losing sight of the bond that holds them together. Running time is three hours and 40 minutes. --Susan Harrison --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Realistic, very funny., 2 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This book shows the suffering of two twins - Ruby and Garnet. They miss their gran and really want to get rid of their dads girlfriend, Rose. They have written a diary telling you what they are doing, and this book is the diary. Ruby wants both of them to be an actress, but Garnet disagrees. She wants them to do well at school and in their studies so they can become clever. My favorite part of the story is when Garnet throws up on Rose and Ruby is laughing like mad. My other favorite part is when Ruby and Garnet try to confuse Rose by swapping seats with each other and doing things at exactly the same time so she gets freaked out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A top book to read, 1 Oct 2008

This review is from: Double Act (Paperback)
Marie aged 14 wants to share the following review:
The cover of the book is brightly coloured which made me pick it up as I thought it looked a fun book to read.
The story is about a set of twins and their life and what they think and feel.
Although they are very different in how they dress and how they think they support each other and have been through a great deal together.
It can be quite sad in places but it is really funny too. I think it can be read by 9-15 year olds.
I like the way that not all the pages are full of words and have really great pictures.
I think this is a top book to read and I highly recommend it.
